The long awaited beta for FFXIV will start this Saturday July 10th. There really isn’t much info about this beta as to what you get to do but like all MMO beta, probably a lot. The transition in terms of graphic from Alpha to Beta looks pretty good as seen from this video. There’s a lot more textures and the lighting seems to be adjusted and looks far prettier. I most certainly do hope you can check out the other major cities which are, Gridania and Ul’dah. A lot of the footages Square Enix has bothered to release all seem to be from the city of Limsa Lominsa.

What I really want to test out are the gameplay, it seems interesting to say the least. Compare to the FFXI combat, the FFXIV combat seems way better. Especially not having to lock on to your target and such. I also hope you don’t have to “check” every single mob before you actually engage them. I hated how I always have to check which monster can kick my ass and which can’t.

I certainly do hope I get into the beta. We’ll see what happens.
