Capcom At Comic-Con!

Capcom announced today at Comic-Con what their new title will be. It originally was rumored to be Namco vs Capcom/Capcom vs Namco. This, however, was false but the rumor about 2 companies each making their own versions of the game turns out to be true. The game is now revealed to be Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter. Capcom will be making the game using their SF4 engine and be played the exact same way as SF4 in a 2D field. Namco on the other hand will be using their Tekken 6 engine and it will play exactly like Tekken 6.

I’m interested to see how Street Fighter characters will be like in Tekken. Someone has uploaded a video of SF x Tekken already on youtube. It is a cam recorded video of course so it’s not an actual debut trailer uploaded by Capcom. The game definitely looks amazing, Ryu got his special kick from SF3s.

Seems like Capcom has done a great job in adjusting Tekken characters to the SF play style. They managed to switch all their juggling into either target combos or special moves.

In other news along with the announcement of this new franchise. Capcom also announced that their development team has begun to start on Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition. That’s right, SF3s will be back and be able to play on your Xbox 360 and PS3. No more GGPO! Ono said if the community has any wishes for SF3s Online Edition, they should start letting out their voices since they have just started development. This doesn’t seem like it will be a port like they did for MvC2 but maybe it is we’ll see. No release date has been given but at least it is announced and I’m very excited for it.

Ono has also announced that the 2 blank character slots shown in the Arcade version of SSF4 will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show in September. As well as more new costumes for every character based on past designs which are available this fall. Finally, the official tournament called Capcom Cup which utilizes SSF4′s Tournament mode.

Here is the debut trailer actually posted by Capcom Unity:
